    4. Laser Marquetry The laser basically replaces the fret saw in the double bevel marquetry method For marquetry, we use the laser engraver in vector cutting mode I have been experimenting with using raster engraving mode also – e.g. the face on my surfer girl picture To get a good fit, you have to cut the hole in the waster first, then cut the piece to fit in a tiny bit bigger Allows you to use the window method to choose veneer alignment Two techniques – faces down or face down on waster and face up on drop-in piece

    6. Laser Marquetry – Technique 1

    7. Laser Marquetry – Technique 1

    9. Laser Marquetry – Technique 2

    10. Laser Marquetry Usually use Corel Draw X3 s/w to generate the vector cutting pattern Wacom graphics tablet for drawing your own patterns Photograv s/w used to process pictures ready for engraving (rastering) Could use any art or graphics program you like though….

    11. Laser Marquetry So far, I have only used technique 1 for my pictures, but I have been experimenting with technique 2 I believe Hudson Bay Inlay use technique 2 Let’s do a demo!
