Difference between ERV and HRV home ventilation systems

There are differences between whole-home ventilation systems. Energy recovery and heat recovery are the 2 options to choose from.

Mechanical ventilation for home is a series of ducts and fans used to bring fresh air in and stale air out in the air exchange.

Some things are the same. Both move fresh air in and stale air out, enhance indoor air quality, minimize heating costs by retaining heat, and are optimized for tight homes that are closed up.

Differences
ERVs are a great option for dry winters, as the moisture is transferred over in the air exchange process.
HRVs are perfect for humid winters, because only heat is transferred over to fresh air in the exchange process.

ERVs transfer heat and humidity.
HRVs transfers heat only.

To learn more about what whole-home ventilation system works best for you - https://iaq.works/c/ventilation/
