  2. The Workflow • Log into HIP administration • Navigate to the area to be changed • Make the change • Restart Jboss • Pick “down time” to restart Jboss unless it is an emergency • Requests/Holds won’t work during restart

  3. Adding or Removing fields: • Customize > Searching > Displays • For adding or removing various fields • Edit fields in: • Full Bib record • Bib summary screen • Copy/Item Information box

Adding a Field to a Full Bib Record • Use “Full Bib” display • Elements that cannot be changed • Adding simple fields such as the Summary or Award Notes: • Create a “label” for the new field • Follow existing format • Always use Marc maps that start with “D” for Display • Marc maps are setup in Horizon (Table Editor > marc_map)

  7. Copy/Holdings Information Bar • Use “Copy” display • Adding or removing additional fields to this section: • Ex: Item notes • Length of fields and display come from Horizon: • Table Editor > Location (for Location names) • Table Editor > Collection (for Collection names) • Table Editor > item_status (for Status)

  8. Keyword Search Results • Use “Availability” display • Adding circulation type information to the display: • Turn on Collection and Status • Add Due Date • Difference between “Bib Summary” and “Availability” • Finding column names

  9. Editing text or screen layout • Customize > Interface > Variables • For editing the look of the the results screen or the labels of various fields: • Changes to the “Item Information” box • Links to Bookstores • Names of various links

Editing Other Areas of HIP: • Customize > Interface > Variables > Text • Changing the Description of various labels • Ex: Place Request includes: • Pickup Select message • Position in Hold Queue message • Customize > Interface > Tabset > • Pick a profile • Change tabs or subtab names, and some text • Ex: “Welcome to…” • “GO” in the “Explore the…” text message • Setup > Libraries > Library Information • Library name for “You’re searching…”

  13. When NOT to make changes: • Never make major changes in the live environment • Try in a test environment first- if possible • Do not change certain sub tabs • Ex: Location and Hours • Do not make changes to Kids’ HIP if you have this installed
