  1. History development of the renewable energy sources inBULGARIA

  2. Presentation made by Viktoriya Slaveva Bulgaria

  3. In the past, people used wind, water and sunenergy, but they were not aware that there is a notion like “renewable energy sources”.

  4. Without scientific explanation people were: • Built houses of south - west, to "catch" sunlight in the bigger part of the day • Built windmills • Built watermills

  5. Water and wind energy is transformed into mechanical. For example for grinding flour. Propellers of the windmills are set in motion by wind, they are driven two large stones, and rubbing to each other they are grinding the grainbetween them in flour.

  6. The structure of the watermills is like windmills’ structure. But watermills are driven by water energy. They are built on the river flow.

  7. In Bulgaria, one of the largest complexes where multiple facilities were built in the past , is Etara. Architectural ethnographic complex "Etar" is the first one of this type in Bulgaria. E T A R

  8. It was found on the 7 of September 1964. The museum is situated 8 km South of Gabrovo. In AEC "Etar" is the only one and unique collection of the old-times water-driven machinery in Bulgaria .

  9. Nap-raising mills In the nap-raising equipments are washed woolen materials -blankets, rugs, tufted rugs, fleecy rugs. During the process the textile become soft and mossy surfase. The duration to the process depends of the materials and temperature form 5 to 10 hours without using of soap powder. From the 30th years of the 19 century the nap-raising equipments started to wash carpets and coverings.

  10. The washing is 20-30 minutes. In Etara are exhibited two nap-raising equipments. One of them was an established state on the place, and shows the technical method of build in Gabrovo, the second one is from village Stokite - Sevlievo.

  11. Water-mill "Karadzheika" It is an original device that is about 200 years old. The name of the mill is associated with the dark colour of the flour coming out. It comes from the Turkish word "kara" which means black.

  12. Water-mill "Dolapkinya" Its name comes after the name of the water wheel, called "Dolap", which puts it in motion. The construction of the mill equipment is the same as that of "Karadjeika" water mill.

  13. Fulling mill The fulling mill was built in the middle of the 19th century. It is primitive equipment for mechanical processing of woolen home woven textile. After fulling the textile become thicker.

  14. Mechanical grind stone The rapid development of cutlery calls for grindstones. Grindstones of this type are used for grinding axes, knives, claw hammers, etc.

  15. Nowadays... • windmills have been replaced by wind generators • water mills by Water Electricity • to “catch" the sunlightare used solar panels

  16. In Sandanski, the Solar Energy Park is already functioning • January 7th 2009 was the day when photovoltaic energy was introduced into the network. • Analysis indicates that the Park produces over 300 750 Megawatt-hours a year.

  17. Renewable energy sources are used for years, we use them now and they will be used in the future!

  18. Our aim is to save them for the future generations!
