  7. Introduction to Iken • Iken is a specialist efficiency improvement company. Through our software systems, advice and training, we help organisations work more efficiently, effectively and securely. • Over the past decade we have helped many public and private sector organisations achieve more through intelligent use of Iken software. We currently work with over 120 organisations spread across the UK and beyond with clients in Europe, Asia and North America. • As a result of working with Iken, organisations typically improve their productivity by at least 10-20%.

  8. But our software’s just half the story… • It’s the expert consultancy we do to make sure Iken meets the unique needs of each client, and the support we give them throughout the time they use our software, that makes sure Iken continues to make a real difference to their working lives. • This means that it’s really important to us that we employ the right people with the right skills, expertise and values to deliver superb service to clients each and every day…

  9. Who and how we recruit • We recruit software developers, project managers, marketing and sales executives, implementation and administration staff from a variety of sources including: • directly through recruitment agencies • referrals • client recommendation.

  10. Why JHP Training? • As part of our corporate responsibility programme, our CEO, Elizabeth Miles, wanted to recruit staff in an ethical way – which also ties in nicely with our current project on working towards IIP Gold! • We are also conscious that in the current economic climate, there are people out there with is a broad range of valuable skill sets that have been unable to get into the workplace for a variety of reasons. • We are also aware of the large number of younger people who may have left school or college with qualifications but have not had the opportunity to gain relevant experience in the workplace. • We want to help change that!

  11. What we did • Michelle and Julian of JHP Training work with young people to help them into the workplace and were both instrumental in assisting Iken with this area of recruitment. They: • helped with preparation of a job description and with CV searching and sourced candidates for us that had a mixture of the relevant skills. • set up interviews for each candidate with Iken and fully briefed each one on how Iken works. • provided coaching about interview techniques, dress codes and confidence. • conducted joint feedback sessions after all the interviews had taken place so that further training can be given to individuals to help them in their job search

  12. The result! • As a result of JHP’s sterling work Iken Business Ltd have now recruited a new trainee administrator, Jenny Brake who will spend some time working in the different teams throughout our company.

  13. Jenny

  14. What’s in it for our new trainee • She will gain a wealth of skills and continue her training with us over the course of the next three months. • And we have every intention of taking her on as a permanent member of staff if she is successful throughout her placement with us.

  15. The journey goes on! • Going forward throughout 2012 and in the future, we will be looking to give the same opportunity to others through work experience with our company.
