Coaching Sub Committee • New Coaching Sub Committee formed Aug 09. • Representatives: • Mark Nelson (Chair) Senior XV • Tom Fitzgerald (Sec) • Pete Anglesea (Acad) • Steve Wood (CB) • Richard Senior (Club, CB and Schools) • Carol Isherwood (RFUW) • Carol Baker (Welfare) • Howard Lycett (CE & CCC) • Paul Fernside (Schools) • Meeting 7th Sep & 18th Sep (Chair, Sec and CDO only) • Priority to provide opportunities for Coach Education. • Approve of Cluster work and development of Coaching Plans • CB Coaching Conference to be arranged for June / July • Development of a Lancashire Player Pathway 7 to 19.

Club Coach Development • Strong emphasis on working with CCCs in clubs to develop Coaching Development Plans • Employment of ACDO with primary function to promote Club Coach Development • Currently plans being developed at: • Manchester RFC (needs updating for 09/10) • Rochdale – follow up on 6th Oct • Sedgeley – initial meeting 18th Nov • Also at Burnley, Blackburn, Clitheroe for follow up • To target: • Preston • Fylde • CB and SoR Coaches

Club Coach Development • Strong uptake on courses during August and September (11 from Lancashire Clubs & Schools at Wilmslow L1, 24 on Liverpool L1) • 9 Level 1s scheduled in Lancashire catchment for 09 – 10 season (availability for 300 + coaches) • 4 Level 2 courses scheduled in Lancashire catchment for 09 – 10 season (availability for 80 coaches) • 5 NW Coach Educators and 2 NW Trainers on CE / Trainer training in Oct 09.

  5. Club Coach Development • Rugby Ready foundation course scheduled 2 weeks before each L1 & L2 course. Strong uptake on courses: • Formby Vikings 24 • Preston GH 18 • Broughton Park 14 • LSH 23 • Manchester 31 • New range of Coach Education Courses developed for 09-10 season. • Targeting pro-active clubs who have a coaching development plan in place to host Coach Ed courses: • Rochdale • Blackburn • Sefton • Bowden (Lancs catchment) • 22 Coach Developers being trained in Region to deliver Coach Ed course; currently 6 co-delivering and 6 more approaching competence.

  6. School of Rugby • Successful series of SoR camps in 08 – 09. Camp structure to be repeated in 09 – 10. Dates already on the website. • SoR groups sizes still too large, particularly U14. Aiming at 15 per age group. • Talent at U13 very good and selection process worked well through development groups. • Sale providing good opportunities for CPD on SoR camps and at other Carrignton events. • 10 Coaches identified for 09 – 10 SoR. Some SoR coaches employed as Assessors • 2 Coaches identified for induction programme.

  7. Club Coach Co-ordinators • Identification of active CCC in each club No. 1 priority of the NDT • In Lancashire 78% of Section 1 Clubs have named CCC. However only 53% of clubs credited with active CCC. ACTION CDOs • 16 Section 1 Clubs have not named a CCC. ACTION RDOs • 17 Clubs have a different named CCC in RF as compared to NW database. ACTION Jane Cliff • In place of CCC meetings, holding a series of club cluster group meetings and workshops

Admin Development Obtain data base of existing coaches containing: Contact details Qualified coaches When qualified Look at Needs Analysis for club (and self) Look at/assess/develop Coach Development Plan Leading to Coach Developers role? Main point of contact for all coaching matters. Distribution & dissemination of information Parameters of CCC Involvement Club Coach Coordinators can operate as an administrator or move towards the Coach Developer role as shown. This depends on the experience and coaching background of the CCC. The minimum requirement of the CCC is to distribute and communicate to all coaches, via direct contact of coaching notice-boards, information on coach development course as send out by the Course administrators. For CCCs who wish to move towards the Coach Developer role the RFU provides support and a course on coach development. Level 2 Level 1 Level 3

  9. Conferences • January Conference booked for 25th Jan 2010, City of Manchester Stadium. • Brian Ashton Contracted as lead presenter. Other presenters to be considered; Danny Grewcock, Tony Smith • 1st stage advertising to be out by end of September. Targeting Schools and L2 + Coaches • Coaching Sub Committee wish to organise a CB conference for June / July 2010. Aimed at Level 1 Coaches and may run in parallel with CCC conference.
