13. Identifying empirical articles Hypothesis …Empirical/primary research articles test ahypothesis or opinion of a given topic. Methodology … defines the research that was completed and how the research was performed … how the evaluation, study or experiment was carried out. Results … often reported in numerical terms - frequencies, means, standard deviations, correlations, regression coefficients, etc. The statistics are usually organized into tables or figures.
