  2. 1 John 3:1 ~ Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Heb 12:9 ~ Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?

  3. “Abba” Father • Mark 14:36 ~ Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will." NKJV

Our Father’s Desire to Give Gifts • Luke 11:13 ~ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father… NKJV • James 1:17 ~ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. NKJV

  6. Gifts to all His Creation • Psalm 104:10-31 • Acts 14:17 ~ Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."

  7. Special Gifts to His Re-Creation • Object of His love; never forgotten: Romans 8:31,32, 38,39 • Never forsake or leave: Heb. 13:5,6 • Hears and answers prayers: 1 Peter 3:12 • Protects from temptation: 1 Cor. 10:13 • Sends angels to minister on my behalf: Heb. 1:14

  8. Special Gifts to His Re-Creation • Provides life’s necessities: Matt. 6:26-33; 2 Cor. 9:8-10 • Gives a family of believers: Matt. 12:49,50; Mark 10:28-31 • Gives generously! James 1:5; Eph. 3:20; Acts 23:11,23,24

Our Father Chastens (Disciplines) • Heb 12:7 ~ If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? • 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. • 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?

Our Father Chastens (Disciplines) • Heb 12:10 ~ For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. • 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. NKJV

Our Father Chastens (Disciplines) • Prov 3:11-12 ~ My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights. • Prov 22:15 ~ Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correctionwill drive it far from him. • Heb 12:5-6 ~ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives."

  12. Our Father Chastens (Disciplines) • Rev 3:19 ~ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. • 2 Peter 2:16 ~ but he was rebukedfor his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man's voice restrained the madness of the prophet. • Luke 17:3 ~ Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you,rebukehim; and if he repents, forgive him. • 1 Tim 5:20 ~ Those who are sinning rebukein the presence of all, that the rest also may fear.

  13. Our Father Chastens (Disciplines) • Mark 8:33 ~ He rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men." • 2 Tim 3:16-4:2 ~ All Scripture … is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, … 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Our Father Chastens (Disciplines) • Heb 12:1-4 ~ Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.

  16. Our Father Will Forgive • Luke 15:20 ~ "And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

  17. Our Father Will Forgive • Heb 4:16 ~ Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

  18. Our Father Will Forgive • James 4:8-10 ~ Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

  19. Luke 11:2 ~ When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, … • He gives good gifts • He disciplines when needed • He forgives when you return • You can call Him, “Abba”!
