  2. Preferences • Use your preference options to personalise Best Practice. • Make it work for you, not against you. • It all starts with the login screen. Choose where BP opens for you. • You can alter: • How your pathology Inbox is displayed • Automatically expand sections of the Patient Tree • Have BP add item numbers into the Finalise Visit screen • There’s lots more to discover, Keep exploring.   3. Configuration • Use with CAUTION. Changing these settings effect all BP users • Reminders • Add, Remove, Edit and Clean-up • Consider un-ticking the Free Text option • Changing options can be helpful • Care Plans • Add, Remove, and Edit • Create your own custom templates • You can export and import them, so share them around • Messages • Create your own groups Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

  4. Starting the Consultation • Shortcuts are your friend • Try these out: • F12 – Swaps screens • F8 – Internal Messages • F6 – Opens your To Do List • Preview clinical notes without starting the consultation Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Clinical Record • The Reminders pop-up gives a great overview. • Keep using those shortcuts. • Looking for something you wrote during a previous consultation? • Use the search feature to find it. • Use the drawing options to enhance your notes. • A picture say’s a thousand words. Autofills • Shortcuts for your progress notes. • Use them to quickly enter standardised information. • Accessed via the ‘Autofill’ button in ‘Today’s notes’ • Type in your desired text. • Name the shortcut. Use symbols and text to make it unique • Choose to share it or keep it yours. • Keep them simple or take them to the next level. Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Advanced Autofills • Use the ‘Carat’ symbol to super-charge your text. • Shift + 6 = ^ (carat) • Creates stopping points in your autofill text. • Use Control and F5 to move between the carats. • CTRL +F5 = Jump to next ^ • Create tables and extra formatting in the Word Processor. • Use your Autofills in the word processor. • Add template fields as ‘Data elements’ to insert information into letters. Templates • Add information on the fly • Templates > Edit Templates • Inserting template fields • Deleting template fields • Changing System Templates • Saving changed ‘system’ templates - prompts for new name • Give it a different name to original • Advise staff of the correct one to use • Changing Custom Templates • Saving changed ‘custom’ templates overwrites the old template • Use File > Save As if you want a different name Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

  9. Using Utilities • Consider the Bulk Document Import utility • Have your letters and documents scanned directly to your Pathology Inbox • Use the Past History Clean-up utility • This will help keep your database clean Bp Sunshine Summit 2014
