  1. Welcome to Mrs. Paik’s Class! Please take a seat!

  2. What do I need to bring in my backpack? • Needed Supplies: • 2” ring binder with dividers • IPAD: Homework is written • Homework • 2 Notebooks: Math & Science • Pencils: 3 or more • Eraser, pencil sharpener • Color ink pen: 2 non-black pens • Ruler • Backpack

  3. Describe the Homework Policy. • Your child writes down homework on his/her IPAD daily. • Please check it daily by looking at the IPAD and completed homework. • If HW is not completed, we will make a phone call home! • If HW is not completed, he/she will make up HW during lunch. • When absent, your child will have 2 days to turn in missing HW…It is up to your child to find out what he/she missed and get it turned in! Look for missing work in Missing Work folders.

  4. What are the discipline procedures? 1st Offense: Verbal Warning/Quiet Time 2nd Offense: Think Time with Ms. Hanson, Think Sheet to be returned with signature 3rd Offense: Parent Contact/Counselor Referral/ 4th Offense: Parent Contact/Asst. Principal Referral/Detention 5th Offense: Parent Contact/Principal Referral/Detention

  5. Class Dojo 10pts: Grab a treat 20pts: Homework pass 30pts: Lunch/Movie in class Check your child’s Dojo account for daily progress

  6. What does a report card look like? • Standards Based Grading: • This grade will be based on a limited number of common assessments that will be given 1-2 times per 6 week grading period. • Student Performance Grade: • This grade will be based on all other assignments that are given in class. For example: Quizzes, projects, chapter tests, homework etc. • Citizenship: • This grade will reflect your behavior in class and will reflect factors such as participation, readiness to learn, cooperation, following class rules, attendance and punctuality.

  7. Standard Based Grade Performance Based Grade 5 = 90 – 100% 4 = 80 – 89% 3 = 70 – 79% 2 = 50 – 69% 1 = 49% or below 5 = Advanced (85-100%) 4 = Proficient (65-84%) 3 = Basic (54-64%) 2 = Below Basic (27-53%) 1 = Far Below Basic (0-26%)
