  1. The Giver Lit Circle Communities

  2. Your Group’s Mission • Now that you have completed your first meeting, spend some time evaluating and reflecting how well the expectations you created actually worked in your community. • To help with this process, you are going to get a chance to view your other peers’ community expectations (although some of you did not turn this in yet!). • Begin thinking about if/what you would like to change for the smoother functioning of your lit circle community.

  3. Community #1: The Llamas & the Unicorn • 2. Rules and consquences: •     If you fail to complete an assignment you have to have it to finish by the next meeting. •     If you fail to stay on task more then three times we will consult Mrs. Furness. •     We will be respectful when other people are talking. •     We will not start until we do our daily ritual opening/ greeting and will not end until we do our daily ritual closing/ ending • 3.  Unique: • We have a unique opening handshake and a closing handshake as well.

If you aren't able to attend the club you are still required to make up the work • 2. If questions do not reach a minuet or more of discussion you have to reword it to make it better. • Consequences • 1. The consequences will be that you have to finish your task before you enter the groups conversation • Unique • What makes our community unique is we do the cup song before we start and end every meeting

  8. Community #6: Purple Bacon Pandas • Name: because Torin loves Bacon, I love purple, and Jade loves Pandas • Rules: • 1. Do your work • 2. Stay with group (on task) • 3. Make a pages document when absent and send to another member with your work done • Punishments • All slackers or people who don't do the work will have to do double the work

  9. Now what? • Now that you and your group members have experienced the running of your first meeting, AND had a chance to see how other communities are functioning, it is time to re-assess your “rules.” • Discuss and revise the rules that you created. A NEW person will be sharing the Google Doc today, so make sure that you all have the same information!
