  2. Program Goals • Promote student pursuit of postsecondary education and training • Student completion of at least one credential within 3 years • Provide students the necessary tools and guidance to offer meaningful contributions to society …Leading to a better quality of life

  3. What is Accelerating Opportunity? • Grant-based initiative designed to transition Basic Skills students from College & Career Readiness towards earning stackable credentials in their desired career path

  4. What is your role? • Incorporate contextualized instruction daily • Regularly incorporate meaningful and effective uses of technology into instruction • Integrate career awareness and goal-setting activities into the classroom • Apply content standards into instruction

Incorporation of Technology into Instruction Example Goal T.1.1.2: Recognize and correctly use common computer terms Understand how to use the internet as a job searching tool Organize and maintain information pertaining to work search Know how to handle stress of the job search Independent Practice Example ActivityT.1.1.2: have student make a glossary of computer terms using a computer. Print and turn into instructor. The instructor will colligate and return to the students a dictionary of common computer terms for further reference.

Bio PicTopics: Career, Family, Interest, Hobbies • T.5 Multimedia: The student will demonstrate an understanding of multimedia and the ability to create multimedia presentations. • W.2 Composition: The student will develop and apply the writing process to communicate in writing for a variety of purposes • R.3 Comprehension: The student will develop and demonstrate knowledge of a variety of comprehension strategies to derive meaning from literary, functional, and informational text.
