  1. Mobile Phone authorised Services through Near Field Communications Hans-Christian Haugli, Elin Melby, Josef Noll

  2. System view Principle mode of operation Object centric services User centric services Alternative mode of operation ObjectIdentifier User Equipment ObjectIdentifier 2 UE 2 Object Object 2

  3. The User equipment (UE) initiates the communication between the user and the object User equipment includes NFC reader NFC ID Communication capabilities UE communicates with Services (S), Object Identifier (OI), Object (O) or other UEs User Equipments - details User Equipment

  4. 1 User equipment (UE) initiates Object Identifier (OI) Using simply ID or Using encrypted key 2: Object Identifier provides ID and object communication capabilities 3a,b initiation of service request, either to user centric services, object centric services or communication with the object 4: Results from service request User Equipments - signalling UE2 UE OI Object Services Object2 1 initiates 2 provides ID 3a service request 4a service provision 4a service provision 3b object service request 4b object service provision 4c alternative services

  5. The Object Identifier (OI) carries the ID and the communication capabilities of the object It has NFC characteristics, but might be intelligent (sensor) OI communicates with UE OI might communicate with Object Object Identifier – detailed specifications DeviceIdentifier

  6. 1 User equipment (UE) initiates Object Identifier (OI) Using simply ID or Using encrypted key 2: Object Identifier provides ID, link to services and communication capabilities of the object (sensor; comm to object) Object Identifier – signalling UE OI 1 initiates 2 provides ID, link to services and communication capabilities DeviceIdentifier

  7. The Object is Equipment or devices which the user takes contact to Examples of such objects are: home equipment, car, The Object communicates with user equipment, user centric or object centric services and other objects Object – detailed specifications Object

  8. (Steps 1,2 provide authentication and exchange of communication capabilities of the object) 3a,b initiation of service request based on agreed communication capabilities. Communication either to user centric services, object centric services or directly with the object 4: Results from service request, addressing also communication to alternative objects Object - signalling UE2 UE Object Services Object2 3a service request 4a service provision 4a service provision 3b object service request 4b object service provision 4c alternative services Object

  9. Services are initiated by the user equipment, based on the information from the Object Identifier. Services might also be initiated by Object Two types of services, object centric and user centric services. Examples of user oriented services: weather report, travel information, Object oriented services are related to how the object can be operated, remote management control and diagnostics, etc. Object or User oriented Services– detailed specifications Object centric services User centric services • Eksemplene burde kanskje dekke alle objekteksemplene som er nevt på forrige foil?

  10. Object or User centric Services– signalling Object- and User centric Services UE2 UE Object Object2 3a service request 4a service provision 4a service provision 4a service provision/request 5 object information 5 UE info, service 5 object/UE info • (Steps 1,2 provide authentication and exchange of communication capabilities of the object) • 3a,b initiation of service request based on agreed communication capabilities. Communication either to user centric services, object centric services or directly with the object • 4: Results from service request, addressing also communication to alternative objects

  11. Examples of objects • home equipment • car • bus station or bus (or other means of public transportation)

  12. Travel information Dynamic navigation updates according to changing traffic situation Weather and road conditions Prevailing traffic regulations, tolls, controls Expected travel times Yellow pages/points of interest Adds/Information E.g.. find nearest free parking, reserve the parking, pay for the parking “Alco lock” – the car cannot be started before a negative alco-test is performed, e.g. passed attention test Personalised entertainment (infotainment) for driver for passengers Key Access - central lock Time limited Authentication control Ignition control & demobilizer Automatic collection and delivery of data from car sensors Weather and road conditions, interface to CALM-bus Traffic information, accident warning etc. Remote diagnostics and CRM Remote diagnostics and management control (SW-download) Allocate nearest (best purpose) service unit Allocate courtesy/rental car Call car owner to service garage Reminders on service appointments Personalised adjustments of seat and mirror settings Improved eCall – knowledge of who and how many people are in the car Electronic Toll Collect Service ideas - Car user centric object centric

  13. Driver log book information about type of trip, distance, time, etc. is loged Freight information (location, condition, danger, etc.) Fleet management Vehicle log book information about fuel consumption, average speed, etc. is loged Service ideas – Commercial vehicles user centric object centric Typically, the same services as for cars will also apply to commercial vehicles

  14. Automatic ticket ordering and payment Dynamic timetable information specified by route of interest Vehicle management Allocating needed vehicles in busy hours due to demand Service ideas - Public transportation (station or on-board) user centric object centric

  15. Remote diagnostics and management control (SW-download) Service ideas - Home equipment user centric object centric • personalized infotainment • stored services • home area • filters • personalized user interfaces • personal settings • on-demand services
