At Snowmass, one stage and two-stage BCs were presented and discussed. • For the bunch compression from 6 mm rmsto 300 mm rms, one-stage BC would be sufficient, although marginal. • For the bunch compression from 6 mm rmsto 150 mm rms, two-stage BC is required.
The number of BC stages may be selected in terms of tolerances and required beam parameters from WG3 and WG4. ( 6mm? 9mm? 150 mm? 120 mm? ......) • At present, we prefer two-stage BC rather than one-stage BC, even for 300 mm. • We also need to evaluate the several existing two stage BCs in terms of tolerances, system length and so on.
