  3. Keep it all together with your Interactive Notebook!

  4. What are Interactive Notebooks? • A note taking process that allows students to record information in a meaningful way. • A working portfolio -- all of your notes, etc. -- in one convenient spot

  5. This Process… • Can be challenging • Takes a bit of patience • Requires practice, practice, practice • Requires consistency • Takes time to learn

  6. The INB allows you to… • Organize information • Record information in an engaging way • Identify main ideas • Paraphrase • Transform written concepts into visuals • Become more independent thinkers

  7. Left Side – Right Side Orientation • LEFT SIDE • RIGHT SIDE Left side items are… …output • Warm-up Activities • Independent Practice problems • Written Response • Application Problems Right side items are… …input • Teacher Guided Notes • Model Problems • Vocabulary • Personal Summary

  8. Right Side • Right is for Cornell Notes! • The right side has “testable” information. • The right side may include vocabulary, formulas, and model problems.

  9. Left Side • The left side belongs to you! • The left side is where you record your PROCESSING. This may include warm-ups, practice problems, and written response.

Maintaining the Interactive Notebook • Bring your INB to class EVERYDAY (no exceptions, you WILL need it) • Date and number each day’s notes *if you are taking notes on page 5 and you’ve run out of room, continue note-taking on the next right page but also number that page 5. • Update table of contents • NO doodling that doesn’t relate to notes • NO ripped out pages or torn corners • Math related material only

  17. Write LEGIBLY on the front of your INB: • CCGPS Math8 • Your name • Inside cover: glue in “process standards” • Page 1: glue in “mathematically proficient students” • Page 2-3: Label both pages “Table of Contents”
