  3. SECTION - A 1. A comprehension passage (factual, literary or discursive) 350 – 400 words carrying 12 marks. Question types ( VSAQ and MCQ) 2. A Passage of 550-600 words for note-making and abstraction carrying 8 marks. (5 marks for notes and 3 marks for summary)

  4. SECTION - B Writing Skills and Grammar 30 Marks 3. SAQ based on notices, designing or drafting posters and advertisements carrying 4 marks (50 words) • LAQ letters based on verbal/visual input carrying 6 marks. Letter types include; (120-150 words) • business or official letters for making enquiries, replying to the enquiries, placing orders, cancellation and registering complaints) • letter to the editor giving suggestions on an issue. • application for a job. • Letter to the Principal/ College authorities regarding different issues)

  5. SECTION – B … contd. 5. VLAQ composition in the form of article / Speech/ Report Writing / Narrative carrying 10 marks (150 – 200 words). 6, 7 and 8. Include VSAQ based on grammatical structures include Gap filling, Editing, Sentence reordering, and Sentence transformation carrying 10 marks.

  6. SECTION - C Literature and Long Reading Text (Hornbill, Snapshots and The Canterville Ghost) 9. VSAQ based on an extract based on poetry to test RTC comprehension and appreciation carrying 3 marks. 10. Three out of four short questions from the prose, poetry and plays from both the texts to test local and global comprehension carrying 9 marks for 3 questions. 11. One out of two LAQ based on the text to test global comprehension and extrapolation of theme, character and incidents carrying 6 marks. (Expected word limit about 125 – 150 words)

  7. SECTION – C … contd. 12. One LAQ on theme or plot involving interpretation and inference from LRT carrying 6 marks (Word limit 120-150) 13. One character sketch from LRT carrying 6 marks (Word limit 120-150)
