SMS Reminders • New functionality in Best Practice • Allows appointment reminders to be sent to patients • Multiple templates can be configured for various scenarios • Ability to set default appointment types • Can Turn On/Off replies from patients • Delivery Reports allow you to update numbers that fail • With replies on, it can update patient attendance status • List can be printed for both ‘Attending or Not Attending’ • Can now setup schedules to send automatically Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Bulk Patient Verifications and HI Lookup’s • Individual OPV’s are great, however bulk is better. • Bulk lookups save time • Update patient details as you go • Print the list if required • Found in the Appointment Book under the ‘Utilities’ • Finding HI’s in bulk is handy as well Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Assisted Patient Registration Tool • Requires some prior setup: • PCEHR must be configured and working • Users must have correct permissions • Can be accessed from 2 locations in BP: • The appointment book • The clinical record • Simple data entry • Instant access to the patient PCEHR once registration is successful Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Database Searching • Built in database search facility • From the main screen go to ‘Utilities > Search’ • Custom queries using Demographics, Conditions, Visits • Load supplied queries that cover various search requests • Virtually anything can be found • Best Practice can create a custom query and email it to you • Ability to print the list or save in Excel • Use the list to bulk export patients from your database • Use the list to do a bulk ‘Mark as Inactive’ Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Database Backup’s • Manual vs Scheduled • Manual • Can be done when you like • Scheduled • Once set, it runs in the background • Can be set to run afterhours, weekends, and public holidays • Uncompressed or Compressed • Uncompressed much faster • How much disk space is on the server C: drive? • Compressed needs 3 times database size free on C: drive • If short of disk space, use Uncompressed option Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Disaster Recovery • Do you have a replacement server to use if the current server fails? • Are the backups safe if there is a break-in or fire ? • Where are they stored. • Alternate between storage devices. • Keep a series of backups • Backup the backups • Take the backups home or store in off-site facility. • Are the backup files validated on a regular basis. • Do test restores on your backup server.
