  2. openlab framework What is it? • A framework for sponsorship • IT “R&D” in collaboration with Industry • Sponsor commitments (Partner status) • CHF2.5M over 3 years • Contributions may be a mix of • In kind (HW, SW, training, …) • In cash (in general for fellows) • Sponsor commitments (Contributor status) • CHF0.25M over 1 year

  3. openlab framework What are we doing? • Evaluate and Integrate cutting edge solutions • Focus: LCG needs in the medium/longer term • Current Project: opencluster • IA-64 Compute farm (Intel + HP) • 10 GbE Networking (Enterasys + Intel) • Storage (IBM) • 10g database (Oracle) opencluster project

  6. 2004 Programme • Organization • Work with new Strategy & Communications unit • Sponsors • Implement Contributor Status (probably with Infiniband manufacturer) • Strengthen collaboration with • LCG (Grid SW, HP participation in LCG) • EGEE (SW, Industry forum) • IT groups • PH/SFT team (ROOT, PROOF, GEANT4…) • LHC collaborations (Data Challenges, CMS, Alice)
