  1. "Learning from the TEN-T Days 2013", North Sweden European Office, November 28, 2013. Enhancing the transport cooperation in the Northern Dimension Area. Recent achievements and future challenges. Alain Baron, European Commission, DG MOVE E1

  2. Lessons from Tallinn on NDPTL (1) • - New business opportunities in ND region will require adaptation of the transport system; • - Many initiatives competing in the region (NDPTL, BEATA etc..) : need to develop synergies for a better use of resources • - Future role of NDPTL could be to steer the initiatives in the transport and logistics sectors

  3. Lessons from Tallinn on NDPTL (2) • - Strong support on "ready to go projects and more emphasis on logistics /small scale projects that could bring immediate benefits; • -Financing : no miracle expected but need to clearly identify priorities and set up the appropriate regulatory framework to implement projects. • - Closer involvement of stakeholders (regions - industry) to define these priorities = bottom up approach

  4. First results: • - NDPTL fund : first four projects supported. • - Key importance for projects which could very unlikely receive support through other instruments. • - Strong TEN-T component and high cross-regional added value. • - NDPTL to be considered as a bridge between local / regional and TEN-T projects.
