  3. Origins of Design Concept • I have always been interested in the transformation of image into sound • I want to create an Interactive Installation that is multi-modal • I want this installation to engage the viewer • I recently decided to look at using touch

  5. Empirical Work • Spoke to several lecturers and Researchers about the technology I could use • Planning to work with Musicians and Music Tech students for my prototype • I have carried out simple experiments relating to image and sound • Going to be working with Nicola from the IDC

  6. Situation Today • I am currently finished the first stage of my preliminary research and reading • I am working on my prototype • I am still researching haptics and the technology I will use for my prototype • I am constantly looking at other Artists and Designers

  7. My Objective • To design an Interactive Installation • The images I will work with will be physical images • I intend to work with the natural relationship between image, sound & touch • I want to engage the viewer and encourage the viewer to explore their senses

Planned Schedule of Activities • First two to three prototypes and research into technology finished for June • June - August refining my prototype and writing first draft of my thesis • August - September finishing thesis, perfecting prototype and working on presentation of Installation • DAWN

  15. Major Concerns • Technology - programming ?? • Time Frame • Access to neccessary equipment • My knowledge of Science!

  16. Issues for Discussion • Is there a natural Relationship between Image and sound? • What are your thoughts on the relationship between image and touch? • Any suggestions in terms of technology?
