  1. Bernard Eco Team It all started with the grade 3 class taking a pledge to help the environment . Grade 3 class Read about the environment Recycle pledge to make a difference Picking up garbage Reduce and reuse

  2. Started composting Studied biodiversity Save energy Participated in Great Backyard Bird count Learned about native plants

  3. But we wanted to grow our own food and increase our school’s biodiversity. We found the perfect spot - our courtyard.

  4. We had a dream………….. Convert our boring, grey courtyard to a vibrant, green oasisthat will attract birds butterflies and grow veggies.

  5. We invited special garden expert Brian Minter who talked to us about sustainability and what plants to grow…….

  6. We planted our seeds and treated them with care. Gave them clean water and fed them fresh air.

  7. We measured We did fundraising Drew up plans and made a budget. We fundraised

  8. Then the building began…

  9. Our soil arrived…

  10. Our garden beds were finally done..

  11. Our team has grown to over thirty people and we are ready to tackle the next phase……… benches then spring planting.
