Who Uses the New CIP? • 2007-08 New Schools in Improvement, New Schools Planning for Schoolwide Status in 2008, New Schools as Targeted Assistance, and any School already in Improvement (may choose) • 2008-2009 Any New or Existing SI Schools, Any New Schoolwide, Any New Targeted Assistance • 2009-2010 ALL SCHOOLS Will Use

Writing Functional CIPs • Pull together a team of winners – include parents • Gather and organize all data sources • Analyze data – look for gaps in student achievement • Use data to write SMART school improvement goals • Use research-based strategies/actions to improve student achievement • Include benchmarks, interventions, and resources • IMPLEMENT • Review periodically and revise as needed

  5. Communicating the Plan • Who …are the stakeholders…who needs to know? • How …do we communicate to each stakeholder? Faculty meetings, PTA, PTO, assemblies, Open House, newsletter, media… • When …before the final draft is completed (input) and again after final approval of plan

  6. Brief Description of Planning Process • In May 2008, the BLT will review the 2007-08 CIP and assess the degree to which implementation was complete and successful. In August 2008, the BLT will convene to disaggregate all data. Results will be shared with faculty, staff, and parents and input will be gathered. The BLT will draft the CIP and present it to stakeholders for modification. The finalized CIP will be sent to the district for approval.

  7. SMART Goals • S – Specific(target a Specific gap) • M – Measurable(be specific to the degree ofimprovement and have Measurable outcomes) • A – Attainable(be Attainable and realistic) • R – Related(be Related to student achievement) • T – Timebound (set Time limits)
