  1. Facilities in our area Good evening. My name is Holly Blount and I am Adam Hames members of St. Bartholomew’s church of England School, School Council and Junior Best representatives. We have more representatives*

  2. THE AIM OF JUNIOR BEST The aim of Junior BEST is to make sure that the children and young people from all the schools in the development group have regular input and shape the development of Extended Services.

  3. At Junior BEST we were given a mission…… To find out what local facilities children in our school wanted. We asked the whole school for their views. We sent a questionnaire to each class in the school.  We consulted with thirteen classes, each class filled in the questionnaire. These were the four main choices:

  4. The four main choices in our school: 1. Graffiti Board, we can take our own paints and do graffiti legally. 2. Skate Park and lessons, improvements to the skate park to include good lighting and security and a safe environment also an organised club so you can skate properly . 3. A secure and safe play area undercover open at all times when adults are shopping in Quorn. 4. Dancing Hall, open to everyone who would like to learn how to dance in different ways. This hall could also be used for many other activities.

  6. We presented the mission to the school in an assembly • Our voice, our choice • Questionnaires hand out • Results of the questionnaire

  7. Analysing the questionnaire School council. Graffiti. Bollywood dancing. Filming and animation. Our four choices were then sent to Julie Crookes. We hope they will be heard and acted upon. Our Voice our Choice!!!

Humphrey Perkins School (Barrow Upon Soar Assault Course Burton on the Wolds Primary School Community Allotment Hall Orchard Primary School (Barrow Upon Soar) Skate Park Highgate Primary School (Sileby) A Building to Chill Out in with an Acting Stage Christ Church & St Peter’s Primary School (Mountsorrel) Better Facilities in Parks St Leonard’s Primary School (Swithland) More Equipment and Better Kept Parks Cossington Primary School More Play Facilities e.g. Swings and Slides Seagrave County Primary School (Seagrave) Older Children Play Equipment on the Park / Graffiti Wall St Bartholomew’s Primary School (Quorn) A Play Area / Graffiti Club / Dancing Hall Skate Park and Lessons St Paul’s Primary School (Woodhouse Eaves) Roller Blade / Roller Skate Rink Wymeswold Primary School Fashion Club and Art Club Rawlins Community College (Quorn) Somewhere to go after school or during the holidays, either a place or an activity style group Better use of enhancement sessions and the project would tie in nicely with the hub, diversity, creativity and culture

  9. MISSION 2 What extended activities would you like in your school?

You will decide as a school what two creative activities you would like to take part in.WHAT ARE WE DOING!We are going round each KS2 classroom and putting in a ballot box.The next day we will collect the boxes and count up the votes. Once we have counted up the votes we see which 2 activities are the most popular. We will also give you the opportunity to vote on the VLE. We will then arrange a taster session during school.

Ideas From Junior BEST • GRAFFITI CLUB The graffiti club allows you to doodle or draw in a affectionate and funky way. • STAGE COMBAT The stage combat club teaches you how to fight professionally on a stage with out getting hurt. • STAND UP COMEDY Learn how to perform and tell belly bursting jokes. • MAKE UP AND BEAUTY LESSONS A professional make up artist will come in and teach you how to apply make up properly.

  12. More Ideas Fashion Design The fashion design club will keep you up to date with the latest trends and you will be able to create and design your own fashion accessories. Rapping And Beat Boxing In the rapping and beat boxing club your able to perform a whole new style of singing.

  13. Even More Ideas SEWING CLUB In the sewing club you can create anything you want by simply sewing. INDIAN DANCING, TRADITIONAL AND MODERN In this club you are able to learn how to perform the amazing art of traditional Indian dance or bangra, modern.

  14. The Last Of The Ideas Body Art (face painting, makeup and tattoos) In this club you will be able to paint your self and others with your own designs. Filming and Animation In the filming club you can produce and direct your own movie with professional equipment. 3D sculpting In the 3D sculpting club you can make models out of any materials.

The School Council voted for their two favourite activities: Graffiti club 11 Body Art 9 Fashion Design 6 Rapping and Beat boxing 6 Filming 5 3D Sculpting 5 Sewing club 3 Stage Combat 1 Stand up comedy 1 Indian Dancing, Traditional Modern 1 Make up and beauty lessons 0 15 school councillors voted.

  18. OUR VOICE YOUR CHOICE!!! Survey Results Mrs James will arrange for a graffiti workshop, filming and animation workshop and Bollywood dancing session. We will use funds from the Extended Schools grant to pay for this.

FUTURE PROJECTS • Compiling a directory on the VLE or as a hard copy news letter to show everyone the activities we have had and include our comments + photos. • Joining together to take part in the chosen activities with the schools – visiting other schools. • Teachers and children meeting together to discuss how they work together at their schools on the projects. • Joint activity for all BDG schools Fun run Hobbies day Community talent show Music festival
