Writing a Dialog Sentence Lesson • The students needed to demonstrate the knowledge of what a dialog section of a sentence is. • The students needed to compile complete sentences with nouns, verbs and supporting details. • The students needed to demonstrate correct punctuation and capitalization of a sentence that has a dialog within. Sounds and Gestures Key Raised Arms = capital letters “Yes” = Exclamation Mark Zoop = comma “Huh” = Question Mark “EE EE” = Quotation Marks “EEKK” = Period

Demonstration • The students created four sentences on the whiteboard with dialog foam punctuation markers and whiteboard markers • The students observed Mrs. Millard gesture the sentences three times • The students joined Mrs. Millard gesturing the sentences two times • The students gestured and said the sentences two times-whole group without Mrs. Millard • The students gestured and said the sentences (which was taped) • The students completed a sentence strip activity
