  1. CSC commissioning • Before Christmas break • Turned on and checked communication with TMB, DMB, ALCT, and CFEB for 6 peripheral crates (180o in ) on station 1: VME+1/[4-9]… • Problems (representative of those which will be seen by “Team-A”): • PROM ID readback 0 and F on two CFEBs  likely skew-clear cable problems • One DMB reading back all zero’s  likely firmware reloading • One LVMB temperature readback problem • All ME1/3 and ME1/1 ALCTs read 0 from on-board ADC +5.5V_B line (N.B. values were OK as read by LVMB) • Found/fixed one set of swapped crate controller fibers at GBit switch in counting house (VME+1/67) • Found/fixed one crate controller rx/tx swap • Otherwise: successful communication with all components with final fibers, patch panels, cabling, cooling, LV power... G. Rakness (UCLA)

  2. CSC commissioning (cont.) • Yesterday… • Online computers switched on • Power enabled to Maratons • LV control computer switched on and appears to be operational • Software + GBit driver (used for VME communication) is updated to SLC4 with updates for station 1 (see next slide) • Today… • Cooling began running • Gas began flowing • ME-2 disk was lowered (i.e., no access allowed) • Weekend… • Access tests disables access to experiment (would be breaking interlock, otherwise) •  Recommence commissioning Monday by “Team-C” (i.e., me) • Step A: download new firmware to all components… G. Rakness (UCLA)

  3. Updates to Online Software • Updates by Jinghua and me include… • Multiple crates in single xml file • Remap user access to AFEBs to be from 1 to 18, regardless of how AFEBs are connected to the ALCT • On ME1/1… • AFEBs count from 1 to 18 (inner to outer) • ALCT always mounted with the same orientation (AFEB input #1 to right) • ALCT slow control firmware the same on all • ME1/1 mounted on disks with respect to IP as in the picture to the left…. •  Ordering of AFEBs reversed on • (Plus, forward) • and • (Minus, backward) AFEB 18 (always) ME1/1 AFEB input #18 #18 #1 AFEB input #1 #1 #1 #18 #18 AFEB 1 (always) G. Rakness (UCLA)

  4. Updates to Online Software (cont.) • Added xml parameters for TMB • clct_stagger = 1/0 = do/don't stagger strip layers (staggering needed for ME1/1) • clct_blanking = 1/0 = do/don't blank CLCT output if no valid pattern flag • clct_pattern_id_thresh = [0-8] = minimum pattern ID value for CLCT pretrigger • aff_thresh = [0-6] = minimum number of hits needed on CLCT pretrigger pattern to send Active FEB Flag to DMB • min_clct_separation = [0-255] = minimum 1/2-strip      separation between two CLCTs • Removed clct_distrip_pretrig_thresh (since no di-stripness left…) G. Rakness (UCLA)

  5. To do… • Clean up simulation drift time analysis for muons • Remove delta-electrons • Point source from vertex • Bin in understandable unit • Cleanly separate: • drift time to wire • minimum drift time to wire for events with multiple wires hit • drift time from wiregroup • Make plots in code, not PAW… • Commission ME+1 chambers • Write documentation for Team-A G. Rakness (UCLA)
