  3. Legal Framework Creation – Ministry Act Nº 147 of May 1995; Alteration - Presidential Decree Nº 4.829 of September 2003. Main Goal - to assist Internet initiatives in the country, assuring quality and efficiency of the services, and the fair and free competition among the providers.

CGI.br – Main Responsibilities • establish strategic guidelines to the use and the development of Internet in Brazil; • recommend technical and operational procedures and norms for the Internet in Brazil; • coordinate the assignment of Internet addresses (IPs) and the registration of domain names using ccTLD <.br>; • propose programs of R&D that promote innovation, quality, and dissemination of the use and development of the Internet in Brazil.
