  1. One Semi-Automated Force (OneSAF) SCAMTLAN & WAN OperationsKurt Hawkes

  2. WAN-Wide Execution(of the SCAMT) Requirement • “OneSAF must have the capability to operate distributed over a WAN in a OneSAF distributed mode (OneSAF to OneSAF via WAN) as if it was operating on a LAN in a OneSAF standalone distributed mode. In order accomplish this a "Master SCAMT" from a single location needs to be able to instantiate multiple OneSAF workstations (100 - 200) across multiple sites distributing a single scenario to all sites and workstations.”

  3. WAN-Wide Execution(of the SCAMT) – Capabilities Provided • Update the System Configuration and Asset Management Tool (SCAMT) to support execution and control across a WAN to multiple simultaneous sites • Does NOT imply large-scale exercise support of the SORD or HLA across a WAN • SORD WAN is a 4.0 requirement

  4. SCAMT v3.0 Enhancements • SCAMT was rewritten from the ground up. • Many usability improvements / better user experience. • Status and control of remote nodes from the SCAMT now occurs through a new framework and communications protocol (JMX). • Java Management Extensions (JMX) does not use the SORD to communicate between nodes. • This allows SCAMT communications to be unaffected by simulation traffic. • New status information can be reported to the SCAMT by simply adding new JMX beans to the OneSAF system.

  5. V3.0 SCAMT View

  6. V3.0 SCAMT Controls • New command toolbar in the SCAMT. • Previous version of SCAMT could only start and stop the OneSAF distribution, the v3.0 SCAMT can perform additional battlemaster functions: • Load, save, save as, checkpoint, and restore scenarios. • Initialize, start, pause, and reset the distribution. • Perform workstation assignments and manage simulation core loading.

  7. V3.0 SCAMT Capabilities Workstation Assignments and Checkpoint Manager with same capability as the MCT battlemaster.

  8. V3.0 SCAMT Object Assignment Object assignment allows for the monitoring of simulation engine load and assignment of units and entities to be simulated on a specified node.

  9. V3.0 SCAMT Node Monitor V3.0 SCAMT allows for the monitoring of a significantly larger amount of information about each node. Individual monitor tabs can be customized to what information is displayed for each node.

  10. V3.0 SCAMT Monitor Customization Allows for the selection of what information is displayed in each monitor tab on the SCAMT.

  11. SCAMT v3.0 WAN Specific Enhancements • SCAMT was updated to support the concept of a single Master SCAMT and one or more Remote SCAMTs. • Master SCAMT • Will display a complete list of available nodes in the nodes panel across all sites (local and remote). • Will display an overall status of each remote site (application status and simulation state). • Will display a remote online status and the time since last successful communication with the remote site. • Remote SCAMT • Will appear no different to the SCAMT operator. • Remote SCAMT operators will retain full control over their local SCAMT instance to view status and control nodes.

  12. SCAMT v3.0 WAN Specific Enhancements • Additionally, the Master SCAMT will be able to control each Remote SCAMT and issue the following commands: • Open, close, start, and stop SCAMT exercise. • Load and save a scenario. • Restore and schedule checkpoints. • Initialize, start, pause, and reset a scenario.
