King Midas • He was the king of Phrygia, which is now modern day turkey • Midas had the golden touch which meant everything he touched turned to gold • Because of his hospitality towards Dionysus’ tutor, Silensus, Midas was given the golden touch as a gift • He received his golden touch by Dionysus, the god of wine • Midas started to regret his decision when all the food he touched turned to gold and he even turned his daughter to gold • After realizing the dangers of the golden touch, Midas begged Dionysus to take it away • Midas made a deal with Dionysus to take back the touch by cleaning the river near Dionysus’ house • He was a follower of Pan • He was given donkey ears from Apollo, the god of sun and music, because he chose Pan over Apollo in a music contest • After Midas received the ears from Apollo, he started to wear a headdress to cover them up • His barber was the only one who knew about his donkey ears

Thor • Thor is a god from Norse mythology • His main weapon is his mighty hammer named • Through the use of his hammer, he can control the lightning and the storms and fly. • He is the protector of Midgard • Son of Odin and prince of Asgard • He is very powerful and will never back down from a battle • Although he tends to live by his own rules, he is faithful to Aesir • He defeated the enemies of the gods • He chased away the frosts and brought peace back to earth • He is always prepared for a battle and never gets tired of testing his strength • Thor was married to Sif, a peasant woman with whom he had a daughter named Prour • Thor also had a mistress because he was so hot and with her he had two sons named Mooi and Magni meaning strong and angry

Jason • Jason was a Greek hero • Son of Aeson and Polymede • Aeson, Jason’s father, was the rightful king of Thessaly • Aeson’s brother Pelias overthrew him • Since Jason was a hero, he was sent on many dangerous missions • His most famous mission was when Pelias asked him to retrieve the golden fleece • Pelias wanted the fleece because it was a symbol of authority and kingship • Jason gathered a group of hero’s and demi-gods and named them the Argonauts • The Argonauts traveled to the Isles of Lemnos then sailed to Daliones on the boat they named Argo • Completed task for Phineas • Phineas showed where the fleece was being held in Colchis • King Aeetes did not let Jason have the fleece unless he completed 3 tasks • King Aeetes’ daughter Medea help Jason with his tasks because she was a sorceress • -fire breathing ointment • -confused the warriors • -put dragon to sleep • In the end, Jason returned with the fleece
