  6. How have Clinical Psychology managed to secure funding etc..? They have a WFP group that receives financial support from NHS Education for Scotland who collaborate with the Information and Statistics Division to map the current and future skill mix in psychology using the 2001 survey as a baseline. A national demand survey linking future staffing requirements to planned service developments.

  7. How have Clinical Psychology managed to secure funding etc..? Produce reports that highlight the consequences of understaffing: • Long waiting times • Gross inequity to services • Evidence of absence of service in spite of evidence of patient need • Serving remote and rural communities

  8. How have Clinical Psychology managed to secure funding etc..? • Estimated numbers of trained psychologists based on patient need • They estimated a need for one clinical psychologist per 5000 of the population • 1,025 posts • Annual report produced • Forecast survey every two years

  9. How have Clinical Psychology managed to secure funding etc.? The Scottish Government is committed to improving clinical psychology services in all of Scotland’s Health Boards, and we have been working with NHS Boards and NHS Education Scotland to improve access to psychological therapies. We have developed an access HEAT target for psychological therapies for inclusion in HEAT 2011-12, which will mean that by December 2014 no one will wait longer than 18 weeks from referral to treatment.
