What does Social media Allow us to do? • Set up online communities that gives us a social outlet to issues that we do or don’t agree with • Once those communities have been established, the different events, forums or meetings that can form • The outcomes of these meetings and gatherings is what is changing the world we live in.

Just Three Examples • Anti-vaccination, Uprisings in the Middle East and Climate change skeptics are just three examples of communities that have been engaged especially with online activity and have had success in reaching their targeted audience. • The “Mommy Warriors” have been successful in holding meeting on why not to vaccinate their children. And when their child is diagnosed with autism, an easy answer gives them comfort in knowing they did nothing wrong, it was all the doctor. • The Uprisings in the Middle East have resulted in the over turning of dictators and large rallies could be easily communicated by simply sending out a tweet of where to be at what time.

  7. Continued… • The results in the uprising has been many deaths but also freedom. • The confidence in Climate Change went down greatly in 2009, about the time Facebook started to be very popular. I believe (Now this is simply opinion based) that not only is that due to the economy but also the online communities that were formed to communicate their skepticism about Climate Change to then form a more national agreement that it is all a hoax.

  8. Conclusion There is power in the media, especially social media that I do not believe Any one person could have ever predicted. The effects it has had on The way we do business, consume products, get news and build communities Has changed much of our lives. Did Zuckerberg know what he was Creating when he created Facebook? I believe he know he was doing Something bigger than we was, that he was creating not just a Facebook But an empire and I do believe that we accepted this new way of living where We update status, post pictures and get our news from online without Exactly studying what we were doing and how it could effect our lives and The lives of generations to come.
