  1. Book Blurb Choose a favorite book that you read in the last year. Your first assignment is to produce a “book blurb” to share with the class. Your blurb needs to include the following components: Title Author Genre Your name A symbol or illustration that relates to the story or topic A summary* Your blurb should be submitted on one 8 ½” x 11” sheet of paper. If you wish to create the published blurb on the computer, feel free to do so at home (in which case you may print it off or email it to your teacher). The blurb is due Friday, August 30th. *The summary should be written in your own words (so don’t copy and paste from the Amazon description), and tell about the story without giving away the ending. No spoilers!

  2. Book Blurb Choose a favorite book to recommend to your classmates. It should be one that you think others may not know about (no Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Warriors, Rick Riordan, etc.). Your blurb needs to include the following components: • Title • Author • Genre (realistic fiction, mystery, fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction) • Your name • A symbol or illustration that relates to the story or topic • A summary Your blurb should be submitted on one sheet of computer paper. The blurb is due Thursday, Jan. 31st. The summary should be written in your own words (so don’t copy and paste from the Amazon description) and tell about the story without giving away the ending. No spoilers! You want people to read the book. Your illustration should not be from the book or the movie or TV show of the book. Be original and creative! Be cognizant of the fact that your blurb will be hanging on the wall. The text should be big and bold, and the illustration should be eye-catching.
