  2. Distinguishing characteristics Deserts are very hot and dry. Deserts receive very little rainfall. Deserts are covered in sand.

  3. Climate • Little precipitation –very little rain • Very hot during the day but can get very cold at night

  4. Vegetation *Plants have to be able to store water. *Most plants have long roots that spread out to capture as much water as possible *Not enough water to support trees *Many cactus and other low to the ground plants

  5. Animal LifeBy: Russell Bradley • Animals that live there have to live with a little bit of water • They have to hunt to for their food. Most hunt at night when it is cool. • Most animals do not move around much in the hot part of the day.
