Blues and Jazz • These all came from the African American community • Recognized as a form of African art • The blues can be traced back as far as the 1860’s • The blues were born the North Mississippi Delta following the Civil War • The blues are influenced by African roots,field hollers,ballads and church music • Jazz is the art of expression
