  4. What is a comma? • A comma is a punctuation mark (,) indicating a pause between parts of a sentence. • It is also used to separate items in a list and to mark the place of thousands, millions, billions, etc. in a large numeral.

  5. Commas are used for many different things. One of the things commas are used for is to separate items in a series.

  6. Let’s Practice

  7. On the back of your paper, write 3 sentences that include a series of items using commas. Please refer to your notes if needed.

  8. Commas can also be use to separate an introductory element from the rest of the sentence.
