  2. Who are we? • ~300-400 members • Membership fairly evenly divided between academics & industry • Our website: http://www.wheaton.edu/ACG/ • This is YOUR organization – nothing happens without the involvement of many! • How will you contribute in the coming year? • Please pay your annual dues!

  3. Formed in 1989 to: • Promote fellowship among Christian geologists; • Promote the integrity of geology as a scientific discipline; • Investigate the ways in which Christian faith & geology bear on one another; • Educate the Christian public about geology; • Develop avenues of witness to non-Christian geologists; • Promote Christian stewardship & service in the geological sphere; and • Provide intellectual leadership at the interface between Christian and geologic thought.

News • New this year: Find ACG on Facebook! • Newsletter has gone digital • Members should have received 3 emails with newsletters attached as .pdf document over the past year+. • Email Keith Miller (keithbmill@gmail.com) to sign up or change your email address • Current Officers (2010-2011): • Carrigan (Pres.) • Steve Dutch (VP) • Keith Miller (Treasurer) • David Campbell (Newsletter Editor)

ACG at ASA • Last ASA meeting July 29-Aug 1 • North Central College, Naperville, IL. • Stephen Moshier organized & led an all-day ACG field trip • Paleozoic strata & Pleistocene glacial landforms in northern IL. • Next ASA meeting: July 20-23, 2012, at Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego, CA • Theme: Science, Faith, and the Media. • Need a volunteer to lead an ACG field trip!

ACG Statement on the Age of the Earth • Considerable debate (mainly through the email list) on the purpose of a statement • Originally written by Max Reams • Edited by Officers • Submitted to the membership via the email listserve for comment & discussion • Officers re-edited • Final adoption by the Officers

  7. ACG Statement on Environmental Stewardship • Initial drafting of the statement by Michael Guebert in the lead role. • Soon to be considered by the Officers. • Following the Council’s editing, will be submitted to the membership by the email group list for comments & discussion. • Final editing by the Officers & adoption. • Now is the time to get involved if you are passionate about this issue!

Moving Forward: Objectives & Initiatives for the ACG • Dialogue with seminaries & religion faculty • Focus our meetings on issues of energy, climate, water, natural hazards, economic resources, international development • Position statement on Environmental Stewardship • Virtual Field trips on the ACG website to encourage geological education
