  • Assessment of skills and abilities

  • Interview with GJA

  • Selection of trainee candidates

  • Soft Skills workshops for job readiness

  • Prep Session

  • 4 day classroom / hands-on lab

  • RRP Lead Certification

  • OSHA 10 Certification

  • 60 day on-the-job training (OJT)

  • General mechanical aptitude

  • 8th grade reading and math skills

  • Driver’s license and transportation

  • Physical capabilities

  • Register for Selective Service

  • CORI / Background Checks

  • Construction Experience desired

  • Attended Vocational / Technical school

  • Signed “Commitment Contract”

    • Internet research

    • Craigslist

    • Better Business Bureau

  • Recruit from catchment area of graduate

  • Cold call

  • Follow-up

  • Always call when you say you will!!

  • Accommodate their schedule and availability

  • Prepare contractor for meeting

    • Email documents

  • Ask contractor to review documents before the meeting and have questions ready

  • Inform contractor of future trainings

  • Identify and discuss specific needs of contractor

  • Custom fit of graduate to contractor

  • Follow up correspondence

  • Update contractor database

  • Personal touch – remember the little things!

  • Place graduates as soon as possible after training is completed

  • Follow up with candidate and contractor

  • Keep momentum going

  • Encourage graduates to do their own research

  • Keep detailed notes of each conversation

  • Check in a minimum of once a week

  • On-site visits 1st & 2nd month

  • Trouble shoot issues and potential problems ASAP

  • Be an active listener

  • Always call when you say you will!!
