  1. Read and React • Read each quote then answer the questions on the following slide. • Put your answers in your spiral. • Example: Quote A 1. I did not agree with it because… 2. Because 3. Because Quote B 1. …. 2. …. 3. ….

  2. Quote A • Separate but equal will never work. I know that this is an extra burden on minorities but if you want to desegregate schools, then the middle class of these groups have to move into white neighborhoods. If you want your children to get the benefit of those suburban schools, and you can afford it-- move there.

  3. What is your first reaction to this quote? • Summarize what they are saying. • What parts do you agree with and disagree with?

  4. Quote B • People self segragate all the time. Go to the mall food court.Blacks sit with black. Same with the whites. So there should'nt be no problem for everyone to have their own school whether it's just all black or white,

  5. What is your first reaction to this quote? • Summarize what they are saying. • What parts do you agree with and disagree with?

  6. Quote C • I can't believe you are equating the resegregation of schools to something as trivial as same races sitting with each other at the mall! When you see blacks and whites at the mall sitting together, do you ever stop and think that they came to the mall together, so they are sitting together at the food court dining together. Public schools need serious fixing and resegregating them is not part of the solution.

  7. Does quote C change your opinion of quote B? • Why is your opinion changed or not changed? • What parts do you agree with and disagree with?
