MuKpi for CuCu reprocessed data

MuKpi for CuCu reprocessed data. outlines. I’ve run the macro with the CuCu data (CuCu@200GeV, RFF, day21) Caveat : there is not yet a filecatalog, the S&C group is waiting for report about quality of MuDst files : http://www.star.bnl.gov/HyperNews-star/protected/get/starsoft/8265/1/1/1/1.html

  1. MuKpi for CuCu reprocessed data

  2. outlines • I’ve run the macro with the CuCu data (CuCu@200GeV, RFF, day21) • Caveat : there is not yet a filecatalog, the S&C group is waiting for report about quality of MuDst files : • http://www.star.bnl.gov/HyperNews-star/protected/get/starsoft/8265/1/1/1/1.html • I have posted some preliminary QA plots for the 200GeV period : • http://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/blog/bouchet/2010/sep/21/cucu-reproduction • Cuts in MuKpi (basically the same used for the AuAu): • Look only at the K-π+ channel • |zvertex|<10 cm (this cut is not perfect for the CuCu) • Si hits (per track) > 1 • DcaXYToPV(pion)*DcaXYToPV(kaon)<0 • First I run over /star/data86/reco/cuProductionMinBias/ReversedFullField/P07ic/2005/021/st_physics_602105*.MuDst.root : by putting a wild card, I can run the macro in a job (remember there is not yet a FileCatalog) • And then I run over all files from /star/data86/reco/cuProductionMinBias/ReversedFullField/P07ic/2005/021

  3. Some plots (for the first part) • Left : the Zvertex distribution is wide : as Spiros mentioned, there wasn’t a vertex trigger for the CuCu run • Right : number of silicon hits for kaon candidates vs number of silicon hits for pion candidates. • As I’ve seen in the QA plots, the detectors in run 5 look in better shape than in run7 ; so me may expect more tracks with 3,4 silicon hits = better dca resolution

  4. Inv mass

  5. Inv mass (with cuts) • Cuts are : • Probability(fit)>.2 • Dca between daughters tracks < 100 microns • Significance ~ 4

  6. Some plots (with all files from day 21)

  7. Inv mass • here I used the same cuts as in slide 5 • The significance is much slower (~2) so it means we have to use other cuts to remove the background

  8. comments • (very) look at run 5 data : • Zvertex is not ideal but tracks quality seems better than in run 5 (detectors have less dead wafers) • On the other part, we can also beneficiate of less combinatorial background : • CuCu : refMult ~250 whereas it was >500 for AuAu • With a small sample, a D0 peak is seen (it seems not to be a flucutation since it ‘survives’ other cuts. But for the same cuts, when running over more data, the significance is lower need other cuts to reduce background • But still it seems promising
