  7. Philosophy Technology can “level” the learning curve for all students no matter their economic background Technology is a fact of today’s society. Students cannot escape it so schools should help them learn how to use it to their best advantage Technology needs to be incorporated into ALL curriculum areas so students are exposed to the many areas it can be used

  8. Philosophy cont. All students deserve a well-rounded education Network Coordinators/technology integrationists should be leaders in their districts—helping design technological professional development and helping teachers incorporate that professional development into their curriculum

  9. Philosophy cont. Most students remember more when allowed to learn an objective through hands-on projects Understanding student learning styles helps teachers decide the best way to “teach” an objective

  10. Themes Network and Network Administration Leadership Instruction

  11. Network and Network Administration Set up and maintain a wireless 1:1 network (Designing and implementing wireless at elementary in the summer 2009) Research and recommend future district technology purchases-both hardware and software Troubleshoot and fix desktop and laptop units as well as monitoring district servers Maintain district backups Keep administration and school board informed and updated on the technology needs of the district.

  12. Leadership in Technology Help teachers incorporate technology into their current curriculum Develop software evaluation criteria for all grade levels Design school web site Head author of school’s technology plan Push behind 1:1 JH/HS pilot school application and current 1:1 design of elementary school Design and present technological professional development

  13. Instruction Develop ways to help JH/HS staff utilize WebCT Design and teach technological professional development Show by example how technology can be incorporated into individual curriculum Keep updated on current classroom trends dealing with technology

  14. Thoughts & Concerns I actually did it! I am amazed at how hard it was to get back into the “student” role Knowing “where” and “how” to get the answer is more important than “knowing” the answer. My goals are big—especially for this summer—and I need to remember to keep the “goal” in mind while I am dealing with the “details”

  15. Concerns and Thanks Money was a concern—I worked hard to complete this degree without taking out a single loan. Took me an extra year, but I got it done!! The order of classes should be considered when making the student’s schedule. EX. APA & programming class should be one of the so this information can be utilized throughout the whole program DSU staff was always willing to go the extra mile to help me The MSET program helped me meet new colleagues and friends as well as reconnecting with past acquaintances

  16. Thanks & Thoughts Thanks to my family for their unbelievable support of mom/ grandma going back to school Thanks to my fellow teachers for all their understanding when I have asked them to “help” me by incorporating technology for one of their assignments so I could complete one of my assignments. I need to find some hobbies to take up all the time classes have been consuming I need to work hard to help my staff see how technology can enhance their curriculum, not add more work. This summer and next year will be a huge challenge—incorporating 1:1 at the elementary, moving the “old” laptops to the elementary and keeping them running as well as purchasing new laptops to grades 7-12.
