  4. The Challenges… • Digital information needs to be authentic • Digital information needs to be verifiable in terms of versions • Digital information needs to stay available in perpetuity

  5. …and GPO’s Solution GPO’s Future Digital System (FDsys) will be a world class system for managing official Government content. The system will verify and track versions, assure authenticity, preserve content, and provide permanent public access. The system will be: • Rules based • Policy neutral • Modular and adaptable

FDsys Will: • Automate the collection and warehousing of electronic information from all three branches of government • Act as a secure, trusted, auditable digital environment • Provide for Web searching, viewing, downloading and printing • Provide document masters for conventional and on-demand printing FDsys Will Not: • Mow the lawn • Act as a teleportation device • Win American Idol
