  2. Midsegment of a Triangle • Segment that connects the midpoints of two sides of a triangle. • The midsegment is half the length of the third side. • Each triangle has three midsegments.

  3. Example • Triangles are used for strength in roof trusses. In the diagram, UV and VW are midsegment of triangle RST. Find the measures of UV and RS.

  4. Coordinate Proof • Proof which involves placing a geometric figure on a coordinate plane. • Example: Place a square with side lengths 4 in a convenient manner on a coordinate plane. • Example: Place a rectangle with side lengths l and w in a convenient manner on a coordinate plane. • Example: Place a right isosceles triangle with sides h and p on a coordinate plane.
