  2. Day….. • Comparing and Ordering Rational Numbers • Locating Rational Numbers on a Number line • Percent of a Whole • Percent of a Whole Continued….

  3. Day 6

  4. Bell Work You will be given 10 minutes to complete the provided Quick Quiz

  5. Vocabulary • an equation that’s shows two ratios are equivalent. Proportion - • a number that represents part of a whole or part of a set. Fraction - a representation of a real number using the base ten and decimal notation, such as 201.4, 3.89, or 0.0006. Decimal- Percent - a ratio that compares a number to 100. a number that can be written as a fraction Rational Number - a line on which numbers are marked at intervals, used to illustrate simple numerical operations. Number Line - Inequality - An algebraic relation showing that a quantity is greater than or less than another quantity

  6. I Can…. I can compare and order rational numbers

  7. Compare and Order Rational Numbers Essential Understanding: To compare and order fractions, decimals, and percents, first express all numbers in the same form. Use your knowledge of common denominators and/or place value to list the numbers in order from least to greatest. Example:

  8. Practice Please take out your maker boards

  9. Wrap it Up • Review • Questions • Exit Tickets

  22. I Can…. I can find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100

  23. Finding the Percent of a Number Essential Understanding: To find the percent of a number, write the percent as a fraction or decimal, then multiply. Example:

  24. Your Turn…. • Clear your desk of everything but a pencil and a calculator.

  26. Day 9

  27. Bell Work • Convert each number to all 3 forms (fractions, decimals, and percent). • Then, create a number line to illustrate their positions and relationships to one another. • Create 2 inequalities using the number line you have created. Numbers: ½ 0.4 0.7 77% 5/8 0.22 5%

  28. Homework Check

  29. Vocabulary • an equation that’s shows two ratios are equivalent. Proportion - • a number that represents part of a whole or part of a set. Fraction - a representation of a real number using the base ten and decimal notation, such as 201.4, 3.89, or 0.0006. 30. I Can…. solve problems involving finding the whole given a part and the percent

  31. Finding the whole given the part and percent. Essential Understanding: To find the whole when given the part and percent, you simply change the percent to a decimal and divide the "part" by the percent. Examples:
