  2. Status report • Kickoff meeting at LTK on October 26,1999: • explored options • identified need for new standard • drafted purpose and Scope • identified coordination requirements

Status report • Full committee reviewed the title, purpose and scope on March 14, 2000 and recommended few changes • On June, 21 IEEE-SA Standards Board approved P1568 Recommended Practice for Electrical Sizing of Nickel-Cadmium Batteries for Rail Passenger Vehicles project until December 2004

  4. Status report • Working Group meeting # 2 was held on June 6, 2000 at Bombardier Bensalem, PA office. Highlights of the meeting: • the group agreed that we should start our effort with the existing standard that is widely supported and is already in use elsewhere. We started with the IEEE Std 1115

  5. Status report • We need to make sure that railroad specific requirements are included in the standard • We started working on recommendation for defining battery loads and determining battery size.

  6. Status report • Our next step is a preparation of the draft standard. At the next meeting, scheduled for September, 2000 we will review first sections of the draft standard.
