  13. CASE STUDY – Armenia: Biogas system for rural and remote communities Project objective: Facilitate access to modern and clean energy services through the construction of pilot biogas plants, and training activities for the local population in the operation and maintenance of these energy systems Results: • A Community-based biogas plant of 15 kWe capacity and two household biogas plants of 3 kWthinstalled in a rural and remote area • Establishment of an SME-support fund • 103 persons were trained in entrepreneurial skills, including a 35 per cent participation of women

  14. Project Title: Promoting small-scale renewable energy applications in agriculture (hydropower, solar, wind, biomass and biogas)

  15. Proposed projects under CP Moldova • Cleantech innovation programme for SME development and job creation • Promotion of small-scale renewable energy applications in agriculture • Industrial energy efficiency 4.0 • Industrial insulation for climate protection and market development

  16. Indonesia Egypt Iran Ukraine Colombia Macedonia Myanmar India Georgia South Africa Moldova Russia Turkey Ecuador Malaysia Thailand Viet Nam Philippines UNIDO Global EnMS-ISO 50001 Programme Operational in 18 countries Planned activities in 10+ countries Projects ongoing Planned activities Other donors • Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs • UK Department for International Development • Government of South Africa • Government of Italy • Government of Austria

  17. UNIDO Global EnMS-ISO 50001-ESO Programme • Operational in 18 countries (as of Dec 2018) • 12 Countries at the end of 2012 Enterprises with EnMS Consultants trained in ESO Consultants trained in EnMS 12.5 + Enterprises trained in EnMS 6,200 + Decision-makers reached Cumulative direct final energy savings(TWh) 2,300 + 600 + 640 + 500 + 200 + 250 + 420 + 30 + 35

  18. CASE STUDY – Diary Processing Plant in Chişinău “JLC” one of Moldova’s largest market leader entered in a collaboration agreement with the GEF-UNIDO project “Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions through Improved Energy Efficiency in the Industrial Sector in Moldova” Phase 1: Measurement Plan Phase 2: Meter Installation Phase 3: EnPIs Phase 4: Monitoring and Reporting Tool The implementation of the EMS (ISO 50001) at JLC allowed • increasing precision and frequency of energy performance monitoring and reporting, • enable faster and better decision-making and actions to optimize operations control, • identify energy waste and respond to deviations

  19. Industrial Energy Efficiency 4.0Integration of virtual and physical systems in manufacturing sector Monitoring energy performance in more effective way (considering resources use) applying the adequate EnPIs, Leading to integrated, optimized and automated production flow Manufacturing Big Data IoT Integration Augmented Reality Blockchain Rapid Prototyping

  20. Project Title: Moldova Industrial Energy Efficiency 4.0

  21. Proposed projects under CP Moldova • Cleantech innovation programme for SME development and job creation • Promotion of small-scale renewable energy applications in agriculture • Industrial energy efficiency 4.0 • Industrial insulation for climate protection and market development

  22. Energy and emissions savings potential of industrial insulation • Thermal insulation in industrial plants is poorly maintained, resulting in excessive heat losses • Poor insulation not only leads to increased cost for energy and unnecessary emissions but also to higher thermal stresses • Leading to more frequent breakdowns • Reduced product quality and increased costs of maintenance

  23. Project Title: Energy efficient heating and cooling insulation in Moldovan industry for climate protection and local market development
