  5. Where are they used? • Packaging • Business documents • Advertisements • Print media • Business cards • Letterheads • billboards

  6. Reasons for effective logos • A successful logo is usually very simple in design. • The logo is easy to understand, even at a distance • One or two colours are normally used • Any writing is presented in a simple way and is easy to read. • A simple drawing or symbol is sometimes used.

  7. Types of logos • Wordmark logo – mainly uses text and typeface to create its message, though other elements might be included e.g. Google

  8. Types of logos • Lettermark Logo: usually involving initials or abbreviations

  9. Types of logos • Brandmark logo: A simple but strong graphic symbol, often abstract

Class Task • Draw three well known logos and explain the shapes, words, font and colours that are used. • Each person will choose a design and talks about the reasons why it’s effective. • Design a logo that best represents you. You can use your favorite colours, shapes, your name, or letters from your name, symbols. • Create an inspiration page of logo’s using illustrator
