  1. July meeting minutes: • Roll sheet was signed • Hvac system was discussed • Agreed on advanced notification for safety inspections • Chemical training requested for all of RRC, iSHEMs group very interested in proper disposal and training for chemicals • Comment: Solvents should not be in glass reagent cabinets that are part of old BioSafety hoods • Doug Cosby has CPR training, will find out the specifics on cost • New bulletin board discussed for iSHEM to be posted in sub-basement • Recycling room discussed, help with cleaning as people’s time omits • Chemical inventory & pathogens list building wide needs to be updated • Floor wardens discussed, current list needed • Business Recovery Plan (BRP/COOP) needed for each Unit and for building • Suspicious box/package drill possible to practice BRP • Updating emergency procedures “flip book” for new year with new contacts • New disposal leaders chosen, training needed for those handling waste disposal • Chemical compatibility issues brought up with proper chemical storage issues in building • Lab packs discussed: How often done? Who pays for them? Liquid or solid waste included? Rooms 4&5 outside are for ARS hazardous waste. What about organic liquids and solids? Maybe a building wide survey is needed on how to handle this • Boiler room, green house and storage rooms outside RRC brought up- most don’t know what is in these areas • FSE brought up as far as what they have and what should be taken off shelves in timely manner (paints, oil, etc.) • Ethidium Bromide waste discussed, what is proper disposal when concentrated in charcoal filters? • Incinerators questioned for Ethidium Bromide waste, do we use them to burn waste or not (Answer: No, not safe) • Waste management needs to be addressed • Floor inspections/checks will be discussed next meeting, 2 people per floor due end of November 2010 • Chemical redistribution talked about, thought of as a good idea from all • Eyewashes, showers & fire extinguishers----who is checking them? Some floors being checked by FSE while others aren’t. • Dress code for RRC discussed. Some want more requirements on dress code in RRC • Ideas include Unit purchasing of shoes for lab use, etc.
