Chapter Coordinator Encourages Chaptersfrom different countries/areas to organize joint events(Workshops, Conferences) Encourages more activities + enhanced management of existing Chapters Assists Chapter Chairsto develop contacts with other Chapters Organizes Chapter Chairs meetings Assists Chapters to form links with and gain support from their Society • Stimulates formation of new Chapters • Encourages Society to increase interest in its Region 8 Chapters

Support for R8 Chapters It has been decided to support the activities of 3 chapters on organizing the conferences and 1 chapter on organizing DLT: • ED/SSC Serbia&Montenegro Chapter (US$ 600) – MIEL’06 • MTT/AP/AS Poland Chapter (US$ 600) – MIKON’06 & IRS’06 • AP Moscow Chapter (US$ 250) – CriMiCo’06 • PE Italy Chapter (former North Italy Chapter) (US$ 500) – DLT by Prof. Ibrahim Habib

R8 Chapter of the Year Contest • The nomination should be made by the Section Chair or by another IEEE officer who has direct personal knowledge of the activities of the Chapter • For a Section with more than 15 Chapters two nominations can be made • There are two categories in the contest: Big Chapters(100 and more members)Small and Middle Size Chapters(less than 100 members) • The amount of the award is 1000 $ and a diploma • Two winners (Chapter Chairs) are invited to the Spring R8 Committee Meeting IEEE R8 Committee Meeting - Reykjavik - Jun 2003

Plan for 2006 • Filling in the last vacant Subcommittee position, i.e. nominate the CI & IT Coordinator • Encouraging the Chapter Coordinators and Chapter Chairs to take an interest in and to support activation of inactive R8 chapters under their responsibility • Further encouraging the Section Chairs to take an interest in and to support their chapters (financially and otherwise) • Developing links with new Societies Officers responsible for R8 and encouraging them to take an interest in and to support their R8 chapters (financially and otherwise) • Encouraging the Chapter Coordinators and Chapter Chairs to prepare articles for R8 Newsletter • Supporting the organization of a few (up to three or four) R8 Chapter Chairs meetings (financially and otherwise)
