  1. Fourth Grade News Room 133 Mrs. Howd February 28th, 2014 News & Notes Daily Schedule Monday – Day 1- Music/P.E. Tuesday- Day 2-Art Wednesday- Day 3- Music/P.E. Thursday- Day 4 - Computer Lab Friday- Day 5- Library Thanks to all the parents who sent in auction items this week. The kids had a ball bidding on their favorite items. I really appreciate your continued support for this behavior management system. In reading this week we read a wonderful story titled, The Blind Hunter. Please ask your child about the important lessons they learned from this story. We continued to discuss the comprehension skill, drawing conclusions, by using context clues and prior knowledge to make judgments throughout the story. We also worked on identifying subject and object pronouns. We finished our unit on fractions and the students took their unit test. We are now moving on to decimals. We will also continue reviewing the math skills we’ve previously learned this year. The MCA testing season is coming soon. I want to give you the dates that our class will be taking them so that you can try to not schedule things where your student won’t be in school on those days. On April 15th and 16th we will take the reading portions. Then, on April 25th and 28th, we will be taking the math portions in the computer lab. Right after these tests the students will get their 3rd and final try on the NWEA tests. Please block out the April dates so that your student will be present. Thanks! The students will be heading back to Mr. Pap’s class on Monday for an electricity unit in science. Will spring never come to this land? I don’t know about you, but I need warmer weather to show up soon. Stay warm!
