What is it? • The National Corporate Track & Field Competition is held annually in the July-August timeframe • It is hosted by the United States Corporate Athletics Association • USCAA is a nationwide non-profit organization • It promotes health and fitness, teamwork, and the spirit of competition among corporate employees by sponsoring corporate athletic events • It encourages teams to use the national championships to raise funds for charities

  3. Charity Event • For the last two years, the corporate track meet raised funds for the ADA • Diabetes is a silent killer that effects 15.7 million people in the US - about 1/3 don't even know they have it • Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States • Complications from diabetes includes blindness, kidney disease, nerve disease, heart disease and stroke • The BAH National Track & Field Team raised nearly $10,000 for the charity • Top fund raiser is from the Hawaii office ($1,000) • In addition, the events sponsors a Special Olympics relay and the Corporate Kids run

Locations • 24th annual event (2001) held in Renton, WA • 25th annual event (2002) held in Sacramento, CA • Previous corporate track & field championships have been held elsewhere: • Berkeley, CA • Palo Alto, CA • San Jose, CA • Los Angeles, CA • Boston, MA • Des Moines, IA • Boulder, CO • Santa Barbara, CA • Irvine, CA • Waterville, ME • La Jolla, CA • Los Gatos, CA • Seattle, WA

Divisions • This year, Booz-Allen participated in Division I-AA against Texas Instruments, Unum, and CIGNA • The team finished in second place! • Divisions breakdown: • Division I-A is for companies with 60,000+ employees • General Eletric, Lockheed Martin, ExxonMobil, IBM, AT&T, Lucent, Boeing, etc. • Division I-AA: 10,000 to 60,000 employees • Division I-AA competes with Division I-A in all events, but the final team scores are separated • Microsoft, Qwest, Pacific*Bell, Principal Financial, USWest, and Oracle have competed in the last five years • Division II: Up to 10,000 employees

  6. Age and Gender • All events are relay or team oriented • There are no individual scoring events. You are part of a team at every level • The running events are set up to encourage teams to recruit athletes of all age and ability levels and to promote athleticism at all levels in the company • Specific age, gender, and executive-level requirements exist • Road races (5K and 10K) are scored by your place in your age group • In the field events, points are awarded based on the current American records at that age and gender

  11. Sacramento “If you build it, they will come” • Team Booz tries to recruit athletes from as many BAH offices as possible. Bringing together WTB, WCB both here in the United States as well as worldwide.

Benefits • Good, clean, competitive fun! • Improved health, fitness, and energy levels • Corporate goodwill is disseminated to the public and to our fellow employees • These events provide an opportunity to network across Booz-Allen as well as other companies • “Uncle Booz” covers airfare, lodging, rental cars, track snacks, and Friday/Saturday evening meals • USCAA-hosted P-A-R-T-Y on Sunday night
