  2. Protection • Thick fur gives the bison great protection. • It’s fur coat protects it from getting cold.

  3. Habitat • It lives in North America. • The wood bison lives in Northern Canada. • It lives in meadows. • It also live in a forest

  4. Diet • Bison mainly eat grasses and sedges. • They also eat wild oats,wild rye,and wheat. • Sometimes they might eat speargrass,and lichens. • They eat horsetails,vetches,and blueberries.

  5. Characteristics • The bison has a large head with relatively small,curving horns. • It’s dark brown coat is long and shaggy on it’s front legs,neck,and shoulders.On the rest of it’s body has shorter hair.

  6. FACTS • It is the largest land mammal in North America. • Males are larger than females. • Today about 500,000 bison live across North America. • Bison have poor eyesight,but have very good hearing and an excellent sense of smell.
